72 G.I. JOBS | FEBRUARY 2017 | GIJOBS.COM What is your typical day like? I am a co-driver, part of a team pulling dry van trailers across the U.S. I receive a dispatch for a load, pick up the loaded trailer and drive within the required DOT time limits to my destination. What's the coolest thing about your job? I joined the Marines to travel and drive big trucks. As a professional driver, I still get to do what I like. How long before separaঞon did you begin your job search? I began my search a month before I was getting out. What worked best in your job search? Applying to as many trucking companies as I could and keeping in contact. What skills learned in the military do you apply to your job today? Everything I learned in my MOS training rolled over into my CDL training. Best advice for transiঞoning service members? Start sending out applications as soon as you can. The more the better and the less time you will have to wait to hear back from someone. Age: 26 Military Service: Corporal (E-4), Marine Corps (2012-2016) MOS: Motor Transport Operator/ Semi Refueler Operator SCOTT GARRETT REED JR. Professional Driver, CRST CORPORAL
