46 G.I. JOBS | SEPTEMBER 2017 | GIJOBS.COM What were your favorite duty staঞons? Bush: Camp Casey, South Korea, and Fort Knox, Ky., were my favorite duty stations. Did you deploy to Afghanistan or Iraq? Bush: I did not deploy to Afghanistan or Iraq, but deployed to Kuwait during Operation Desert Fox with 4/64 Armor in 1998. Why did you decide to go to school? Bush: I decided to go to school because I wanted to set an example of higher education for my family as well, and pursuing a career that would allow me to provide a service. How did you decide which degree to pursue? Bush: I decided on a degree in counseling because it felt natural for me with spending years in the military training, counseling and mentoring soldiers. Why did you choose Lindsey Wilson College for your master's degree? Bush: I chose Lindsey Wilson College because their weekend class format was easier to adapt to my work schedule. Are you aending classes on campus, online or both? Bush: I attend class online and at the Radcliff, Ky., campus. Are you using the GI Bill? If so, which one? Bush: I originally used VOCREHAB, then switched to the Post-9/11 version because my counselors advised me to do so. Do you feel that your military experience has made you a beer student? Bush: My military experience has definitely made me a better student. The discipline to sit in class on weekends after working all week and to study is a direct reflection of being in the Army. Did you have any difficulty adjusঞng to campus culture? Bush: I did not have any issues with adapting to a college setting, and I would advise anyone else to just rely on their discipline and professionalism that they were taught in the military. What has been the most rewarding aspect or moment? Bush: The most rewarding moment for me has been hearing my children tell me how proud they are of me for continuing my education. Which military achievement are you most proud of? Bush: My proudest military moment has been seeing the soldiers I have trained become successful military leaders. Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Bush: I eventually would like to return to serving the military with a government job. I would advise anyone transitioning to do their research on their career field that they are pursuing and how it relates to their school of choice.
