14 G.I. JOBS | FEBRUARY 2018 | GIJOBS.COM S c h o o l s These schools excel at serving those who served. 2018 MILITARY FRIENDLY SCHOOLS EDU MILITARY FRIENDLY ® SCHOOLS WE COLLECT AND PROCESS vast amounts of data to encourage schools to develop and sustain strong programs for veterans on campus. The program is based on the fundamental question: Which schools are "better for veterans"? That is, which schools have better outcomes for military and veteran students than for civilian students? Military Friendly ® ratings are determined through the evaluation of public data and proprietary data gathered through the annual Military Friendly ® survey process. We are in the process of now including personal satisfaction data from veteran students. The data-driven Military Friendly ® survey assessment is available at no cost to thousands of colleges nationwide. Survey topics and questions are reviewed and developed with the assistance of an independent Military Friendly ® Advisory Council. The council is a group of independent subject matter experts and industry partners representing the fields of veteran education and employment. The council includes representation from employers, schools, nonprofits and outside organizations. There is also a Military Alumni Advisory Council comprising post-9/11 veterans, who represent the military community and provide valuable feedback about what veterans are looking for from Military Friendly ® employers and schools. EY (Ernst & Young), a global leader in assurance, tax, transaction and advisory services, independently tests the validity and consistency of each year's survey results by testing the scoring methodology developed by Victory Media. Methodology reviews are performed by EY Assurance Services unit. It is important to note that our scoring is fully automated. AWARDS PROGRAM The results determine not only if an institution is Military Friendly ® , but also how Military Friendly ® it is. That led to the awards program, which provides a more competitive view of how an organization is performing compared to similar organizations. This year we've awarded schools that rise above the Military Friendly ® designation in 11 different categories. A school can be awarded: • Top 10 • Gold – within 10% of the 10th- ranked organization. • Silver – within 20% of the 10th- ranked organization. • Bronze – within 30% of the 10th-ranked organization. On the following pages, you'll find the 110 schools that earned an award, plus the full list of all 846 Military Friendly ® Schools organized by state. We also publish and regularly update this on militaryfriendly.com. While data from our proprietary survey is updated each year in our annual survey, public and personal data updates monthly and may result in additions and even suspensions of an institution's designation. So be sure to review our online list frequently. This is the reliable information that millions of veterans and military students need! Read the white paper titled "Better for Veterans" that urges institutions to commit to being "Better for Veterans" in their policies, programs and practices. betterforveterans.org ® Not all advertisers in this publication have been designated Military Friendly ® .
