38 G.I. JOBS | FEBRUARY 2018 | GIJOBS.COM Why did you enlist in the military? I always wanted to be a soldier – ever since I was a young boy. During the summer between my junior and senior years of high school, when I was 17, I talked my parents into consenting for me to join the National Guard. What did you do in the military? My most recent job was as instructor for the Motor Transportation Operators Course at Fort Leonard Wood. My responsibilities included planning, preparing and presenting driver trainings for more than 5,000 students annually. How did you get your current job? I actually applied for a local city driver position, but during my first interview, the terminal manager told me about a driver-instructor position for a brand- new program starting at Holland. As he described the position and its responsibilities, I became very interested. During your search, what aributes of a potenঞal job were of most value to you? I was looking for a job that aligned with my background and experience. I also wanted a position reasonably close to home, with decent pay and benefits, so I could spend time with my wife and two sons, as well as provide for them. SERGEANT FIRST CLASS GREGORY A REESE JR.
