16 G.I. JOBS | OCTOBER 2018 | GIJOBS.COM S c h o o l s These schools excel at serving America's veterans and their families. 2018-19 MILITARY FRIENDLY ® SCHOOLS EDU MILITARY FRIENDLY ® SCHOOLS THE MILITARY FRIENDLY ® SCHOOLS PROGRAM has transformed over the years to better determine which schools have better outcomes for veterans and their families than for civilian students. That transformation continues this year with the realignment of the publishing of the list. This year we've aligned the list to the school year and we're proud to publish the 2018-19 Military Friendly ® Schools list this fall. To determine the list, we collect and process vast amounts of data that encourages schools to develop and sustain strong programs for veterans on campus. The Military Friendly ® Schools program is based on the fundamental question: Which schools have better outcomes for military and veteran students than for civilian students? That is, which schools are better for veterans? The Military Friendly ® ratings are determined through the evaluation of public data and proprietary data gathered through the annual Military Friendly ® survey process. We are also now including personal satisfaction data from veteran students. The data-driven Military Friendly ® survey is available at no cost to thousands of institutions nationwide. Survey topics and questions are reviewed and developed with the assistance of an independent Military Friendly ® Advisory Council comprising independent subject matter experts and industry partners representing the field of veteran education. There is also a Military Alumni Advisory Council composed of post-9/11 veterans who represent the military community and provide valuable feedback about what veterans are looking for from Military Friendly ® Schools. It is important to note that our scoring is fully automated. AWARDS PROGRAM The results determine not only if an institution is Military Friendly ® , but also how Military Friendly ® it is. The awards program provides a more competitive view of how an organization is performing compared to similar organizations. We've awarded schools that rise above the Military Friendly ® designation in 11 different categories. A school can be awarded: • Top 10 • Gold – within 10% of the 10th-ranked organization. • Silver – within 20% of the 10th-ranked organization. • Bronze – within 30% of the 10th-ranked organization. On the following pages, you'll find the 110 schools that earned an award, plus the full list of all 946 Military Friendly ® Schools organized by state. We also publish and regularly update this list on MilitaryFriendly.com , as public and personal data updates monthly and may result in additions and even suspensions of an institution's designation. So be sure to review our online list frequently. This is the information that millions of veterans and military students need! Read the white paper titled "Better for Veterans" that urges institutions to commit to being "Better for Veterans" in their policies, programs and practices. betterforveterans.org ® Not all advertisers in this publication have been designated Military Friendly ® .
