JOBS | DECEMBER 2018 | GIJOBS.COM Military Friendly: Better for Veterans Since 2003 the Military Friendly ® ratings program has set the standard for organizations that provide positive employment outcomes for veterans and their families. For employers competing for the Military Friendly ® designation, it gets harder each year. Employers are challenged to a higher standard than in previous years through improved methodology, criteria and weightings developed with the help of an independent research firm and our advisory councils. Over the 16-year growth of the Military Friendly ® Employer program, we have witnessed dynamic changes. When the first list was published in 2003, little more than 20 organizations invested in a defined military veteran initiative. Now hundreds of corporations and organizations have not only budgeted investments, but dedicated teams, spaces, data analysis and goals. For the 2019 class, we evaluated public information from government databases and comprehensive survey data to recognize 226 employers as Military Friendly ® for their support of the military community. We also rated and ranked – racked and stacked – the programs of those 226 organizations to determine which ones are Better for Veterans in four different categories (by revenue). Not all advertisers in this publication have been designated Military Friendly ® . AWARDS PROGRAM: RISING TO THE TOP The Military Friendly ® assessment results determine not only if an institution is Military Friendly ® , but how Military Friendly ® it is. The awards program provides a more competitive view of how an organization is performing compared to similar organizations. This year we've awarded employers that rise above the Military Friendly ® designation in the four revenue categories. TOP 10 – the best of the best! GOLD – within 10% of the 10th-ranked organization. SILVER – within 20% of the 10th-ranked organization. BRONZE – within 30% of the 10th-ranked organization. DESIGNATED - These organizations are deemed Military Friendly.
