74 G.I. JOBS | FEBRUARY 2017 | GIJOBS.COM Age: 45 Military Service: Master Sergeant (E-7), Air Force (1991-2014) AFSC: Most recent - Flight Chief, Enlisted Accessions (8R300) Education: • Associate degree, electronic systems technology, Community College of the Air Force, 2006 • Associate, human resource management, Community College of the Air Force, 2009 • Bachelor's, human resource leadership, Amridge University, 2010 • Master's, organizational learning and performance, Western Michigan University, 2016 • MBA, University of Phoenix, 2012 AMY GRANFORS What do you do? Manage projects to ensure they stay on track and are completed on time. Conduct meetings, update statuses, reports, slides, etc., and brief stakeholders. I also think strategically about the projects overall to ensure any potential issues or roadblocks are identified. What worked best in your job search? Networking with various veteran agencies and groups. What didn't work? Applying to jobs online without tailoring my résumé to match the requirements. Many organizations use screening software, so if your résumé doesn't match to a specified number of keywords or phrases you are not likely to move forward. Any transiঞon humor during your first days on the job? I walked outside to go to lunch and stopped at the doorway to reach for a hat that I didn't have. And I still cringe at the idea of cutting across the grass. MASTER SERGEANT Project Manager, Holland
