GIJOBS.COM | APRIL 2017 | G.I. JOBS 27 JOBS THEY RECRUIT VETERANS FOR, WHAT THEY PAY and WHAT YOU NEED TO GET HIRED. WE ASKED THE 2017 MILITARY FRIENDLY ® EMPLOYERS WHAT IF YOU'RE PASSIONATE about computers, you're in luck. Seven of the 2017 Top 25 Hot Jobs for Veterans are computer-related jobs – nearly one-third. Computers are hot, and if you're looking for a high-paying civilian career with solid job security, you'll love this year's list. Not into computers? Maybe you prefer to work outdoors or get your hands dirty. Those kinds of jobs are well- represented on this year's list, too: Car and truck mechanic, welder, construction supervisor, electrician, aircraft technician and CDL driver. Want to drive a desk? Think sales, financial services, HR, accounting or marketing. Or how about the smokin' hot health care industry, where you could work as an RN? They're in demand, they get paid well, and you can get trained in two years. If you want to run the whole show, you could put your leadership skills to work with this year's No. 1 hot job: operations manager. The Top 25 Hot Jobs for Veterans is a great place to start your research. Figure out what you'd love to do, what training or education you need to do it, then go for it! Organizations competing to make the Military Friendly® Employers list must take a comprehensive survey outlining the programs and services they offer veterans. The results are combined with public data and veteran employee feedback to determine which organizations are Military Friendly®. When they take the survey, employers are asked to list the top 10 jobs they recruit veterans for. We compiled data from more than 200 Military Friendly® Employers to bring you this year's Top 25 Hot Jobs for Veterans. For each position, you'll find a job description, job-growth projections from the Labor Department's Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the median annual salary, and what education or training you need for each job. To help you get started, we also listed the Military Friendly® Employers advertising in this issue that are recruiting for these jobs right now. How We Determine Which Jobs Are Better for Veterans WE DID THE RESEARCH: GIJOBS.COM | APRIL 2017 | G.I. JOBS 27
