E M P L O Y E R S Military Friendly ® ratings are determined through the evaluation of public data and proprietary data gathered through the annual Military Friendly ® survey process. We are in the process of now including personal satisfaction data from veteran employees. The data-driven Military Friendly ® Employers survey assessment is available at no cost to thousands of companies and federal contractors nationwide; employers must have hired military veterans within the last 12 months in order to participate. Each year, employers taking the survey are held to a higher standard via improved methodology, criteria and weightings developed with the assistance of an independent research firm and our Advisory Councils. Final survey results and ratings are determined by combining an employer's survey scores with the assessment of the organization's ability to meet minimum thresholds for the recruiting, hiring, advancement and retention of veterans and military employees. The benchmark is set by the leading organization. Fraud Detection We have consistently increased our development and utilization of fraud detection tools, which include not only checks against public data sets, but advanced machine learning techniques such as self-organizing maps (SOM) backed by custom artificial neural networks (ANN) similar to what is in use at major financial institutions and banks. These techniques require years of data, and are therefore not easily replicable. ® How We Determine Who Is Military Friendly ® Read the "Better for Veterans" white paper which urges institutions to commit to being "Better for Veterans" in their policies, programs and practices. BETTERFORVETERANS.ORG EY, a global leader in assurance, tax, transaction and advisory services, independently evaluates the completeness and accuracy of the Military Friendly® Employers data calculations and scoring tabulations using the criteria set forth by Victory Media. The services performed by EY are advisory in nature. EY refers to the global organization, and may refer to one or more, of the member firms of Ernst & Young Global Limited, each of which is a separate legal entity. The methodology review was performed by EY Assurance Services. For more information about EY, please visit ey.com
